The Second Yunnan-Guizhou Corridor Forum Featuring “Culture Corridor and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau” Held at GZU


The forum featuring “Culture Corridor and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau” was held at Guizhou University (GZU) on September 29th. The event was co-hosted by the Research Base on the Chinese National Community for the National Ethnic Affairs Commissions at GZU, the Beijing Development Institute at Peking University, the Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Ethnological Museum of the Minzu University of China. It was organized by several GZU institutes, including its branch for the Research Base for the Chinese National Community, the College of History and Ethnic Culture, and the Academy of Chinese Culture. The event was also co-organized by various GZU departments, including the Research Base for the Chinese National Community under the Guizhou Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee, the Ethnic Culture and Regional Development Research Center, the Chinese Traditional Culture and Guizhou Regional Culture Research Center, and the Oriental Thought and Cultural Heritage Research Center.

Key participants at the event included Huang Rong, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee, and Luo Changjiang, Deputy Secretary of the GZU CPC Committee and Director of the Research Base on the Chinese National Community for the National Ethnic Affairs Commissions at GZU. The seminar was attended by nearly 200 individuals, including professors from various institutions such as Li Dalong from the Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Xi from the Minzu University of China, Yang Tingshuo from Jishou University, Zhang Yinghua from Hunan First Normal University, and GZU's faculty members Professor Zhang Xinmin and Professor Yang Zhiqiang. Additionally, scholars, doctoral students, and postgraduate students from domestic and foreign universities also participated in the event.

In his opening speech, Luo Changjiang acknowledged and praised the Southwestern Ethnic Culture Corridor Center for its continuous efforts since its establishment as part of the GZU Research Base on the Chinese National Community for the National Ethnic Affairs Commissions. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and intelligent work to drive an innovative transformation that would showcase the richness of our national ethnic culture. This, in turn, would contribute to the progress of local development in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.

During the opening event, an announcement was made regarding a congratulatory letter written by Professor Li Guoping, who serves as the Counsellor to the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and President of the Beijing Development Institute at Peking University. In the letter, Professor Li extended his congratulations on behalf of the organizers and reiterated the importance of raising awareness about building a Chinese national community and promoting ethnic interactions and integration.

In addition, Huang Rong delivered a speech during the opening event, highlighting Guizhou Province's active response to the call for building a Chinese national community. He urged the experts and scholars present to contribute their efforts towards this cause.

After the opening ceremony, Professors Li Dalong, Zhang Xinmin, Zhang Xi, Yang Tingshuo, Yang Zhiqiang, and Zhang Yinghua delivered keynote speeches, while other participant shared academic viewpoints at separate symposiums.
